The Senior Deal Manager role is pivotal in accelerating commercial velocity and ensuring governance for high-value transactions through the structuring of complex enterprise agreements that drive Appian’s global market growth.
About the Team
The Commercial Operations team operates at the intersection of Sales, Finance, and Legal, responsible for governance, pricing strategies, and execution frameworks that convert enterprise pipeline into revenue. Our mission is to protect company margins and ensure policy compliance while providing strategic deal mechanics that empower our field teams in the competitive AI-Powered Process Automation market.
The Opportunity
This role offers a unique chance to act as an internal consultant and commercial architect for our elite sales organization, managing complex enterprise agreements with a focus on financial acumen, risk assessment, and strategic collaboration.
What Youâll Do
- Structure and process complex enterprise deals efficiently, ensuring alignment with corporate pricing and revenue recognition policies.
- Draft, modify, and finalize intricate contract terms for new software clients and expansion opportunities.
- Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, and Legal teams to review and confirm complex commercial terms.
- Resolve commercial inquiries and pricing challenges from Sales and Account Management teams using enterprise quoting tools.
- Audit deal compliance with internal governance frameworks and external regulations, serving as an authoritative source on contract accuracy.
- Support the field sales organization as a liaison for bid management practices and custom deal workflows.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelorâs Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in deal desk operations, contract management, or commercial sales operations in the enterprise software industry.
- Proven track record in managing complex deal structuring and custom contract creation.
- Advanced proficiency in navigating high-velocity transactions within an enterprise CRM or modern CPQ architecture.
- Exceptional analytical skills with a history of resolving complex operational problems under tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting long-cycle B2B enterprise software campaigns or specialized bid management teams.
- Familiarity with software revenue recognition principles, such as ASC 606.
- Experience with enterprise platforms like Salesforce or ServiceNow.
Compensation and Benefits
The base salary for this position ranges from £75,000 to £175,000 GBP, with actual compensation dependent on various factors including experience and qualifications. A discretionary bonus may also be awarded based on individual and company performance.
