As a Senior Data Center Engineer specializing in Telecom and Systems Architecture, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our data centers. You will work alongside a talented team, tackling complex challenges related to power usage and the operation of environmentally-friendly facilities. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards while driving infrastructure improvements.

The Data Center Design Integration team, which comprises architects and Telecom/ICT designers, focuses on creating next-generation data center designs. You will collaborate with various disciplines, including Architectural, Structural, MEP, Telecom/ICT Networking, Controls, and Security systems, to manage project priorities and deadlines effectively.

In your role as Telecom/ICT Lead, you will work closely with senior engineers to develop integrated telecom communication designs at both the product and assembly levels of data centers. Your contributions will support the Technical Infrastructure team, which is responsible for maintaining and developing our data centers and enabling Google’s product portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal telecom engineers and network designers to translate requirements into products, conceptual designs, and layouts for telecom infrastructure.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams across architecture, civil, mechanical, electrical, controls, and security to integrate telecom infrastructure into product development and assembly.
  • Lead design reviews for ICT/telecom products and data center designs, ensuring alignment across disciplines such as Telecom, Security, Controls, and Networking.
  • Evaluate construction-level drawings from internal and external vendors to ensure they accurately document the ICT/Telecom scope.
  • Establish and promote best practices for converged network allocations across mechanical, electrical, and controls products.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in data center infrastructure, telecommunications, or construction industries.
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience specifically in the telecommunications sector.
  • Experience working in a data center or a similar mission-critical environment.
  • Preferred: Proven experience as a key contributor to ICT/Telecom design for large-scale data centers (40mw+).
  • Preferred: Relevant certifications such as RCDD, CNIDP, or CDCDP.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with external telecom vendors and the ability to assess their product specifications for ICT/Telecom design.
  • Preferred: Proficiency in Autodesk Revit or other 3D modeling software for developing telecom rack and tray layouts.
