As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) within the Google Cloud organization, you will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between innovative AI products and their practical application in customer environments. This position requires an individual who can go beyond traditional advisory roles, acting as an innovator-builder who engages directly with clients to develop and deploy bespoke AI solutions.
Your primary responsibilities will include serving as a developer for complex AI applications, transitioning from rapid prototypes to production-grade workflows that deliver measurable returns on investment. You will architect and code the integration between Google’s AI products and the customer’s existing infrastructure, ensuring seamless functionality across APIs, legacy data systems, and security protocols.
In addition, you will build high-performance evaluation pipelines and observability frameworks to ensure that the AI systems meet the necessary standards for accuracy, safety, and latency. You will also identify common patterns and friction points within Google’s AI stack, converting these insights into reusable modules or formal product feature requests for the engineering teams.
Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with pre-sales and product teams to instill Google-grade development best practices, ensuring the long-term success of projects and high end-user adoption.
To qualify for this position, you should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, along with at least 8 years of experience in software development using Python or similar languages. You should have experience in building data pipelines for structured and unstructured data, and a proven track record of taking AI-driven solutions from conception to launch on cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform. Leading technical discovery sessions with clients and fluency in French or German are also essential for this customer-facing role.
