We are looking for a dynamic and innovative Asset and Smart Buildings Manager to take charge of the strategic management of the Trust’s physical assets and advanced smart building technologies, playing a crucial role in the New Hospital Programme (NHP). This senior position is essential for ensuring the performance, integrity, and compliance of our estate throughout its lifecycle, ultimately supporting high-quality patient care.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic management of the Trust’s physical assets and smart building technologies.
  • Oversee the complete asset and building technology management process, from acquisition to maintenance and performance monitoring.
  • Manage Trust-wide asset registers, ensuring compliance and resilience of buildings, plant, equipment, and digital infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement lifecycle strategies, backlog programmes, and planned preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Handle minor works, reactive repairs, and maintenance of fabric, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and technical requirements, coordinating audits and inspections.
  • Lead asset risk management and business continuity planning for the estates.

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate qualification in estates/facilities management, project management, or a related field.
  • Degree or equivalent experience in estates management, engineering, building services, facilities management, or a related discipline.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Strong knowledge of Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs), Health Building Notes (HBNs), and other relevant regulations.

Experience

  • Significant senior-level experience in estates and facilities management, ideally within a healthcare context.
  • Proven track record in managing asset registers, lifecycle planning, backlog maintenance, and planned preventive maintenance programmes.
  • Experience in leading large multidisciplinary teams and managing budgetary control, procurement, and contract management.
  • Experience in implementing smart building technology.

Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of statutory compliance in estates and facilities management.
  • Understanding of risk management, business continuity planning, and governance frameworks.
  • Strong leadership and people management abilities.
  • Excellent financial and analytical skills, with the capacity to interpret complex data.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • High-level communication and influencing skills.
  • Competence in using CAFM, asset databases, and Microsoft Office applications.
