Graduate Product Development Engineer Overview

As a Graduate Product Development Engineer, you will join an integrated Product and Process Development team at BAE Systems, where you will be involved in planning and executing product development engineering activities. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the creation of innovative products while gaining valuable experience in design processes and emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the product development process.
• Plan and conduct product development trials, ensuring thorough analysis of technical results.
• Compile data to support design approval and validation activities.
• Prepare technical documentation, including reports, procurement specifications, and requirement specifications.
• Develop inspection methods and quality control processes for components and assembled products to ensure compliance.
• Support product design and systems engineering activities for both new and existing products.
• Manage product and process design, development, testing, manufacturing, and evaluation activities.
• Ensure safety is prioritized in all working practices for yourself and the team.
• Conduct and manage trials safely, from planning through execution to reporting and presenting conclusions.
• Oversee the management of suppliers, both internal and external, to ensure timely completion of development activities.
• Assist in generating costed proposals for external customers.

Requirements

• A minimum of a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree or a pass at Master’s level in Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Materials Science.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an integrated product and process development team.
• Strong analytical skills for evaluating technical results and compiling data.
• Excellent communication skills for preparing technical documentation and presenting findings.
• Commitment to maintaining safety standards in all engineering practices.
