FPGA Engineer Overview

We are seeking an experienced FPGA Engineer to join a rapidly expanding sensing technology company located near Bristol. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing innovative distributed fibre sensing instruments that are deployed globally to monitor essential infrastructure such as borders, pipelines, railways, and power networks.

As an FPGA Engineer, you will work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, partnering with scientists and engineers to bring products from concept to real-world deployment. This position involves hands-on work with a blend of new product research and development as well as enhancements to existing platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the development of advanced distributed fibre sensing instruments utilized for monitoring critical infrastructure.
• Engage in both new product research and development as well as enhancements to existing platforms.
• Collaborate with a team of scientists and engineers in a dynamic environment to transition products from initial concept to real-world application.

Requirements:

• Proven experience with VHDL, particularly using Xilinx Vivado.
• Expertise in multi-clock domain design and achieving timing closure.
• Experience in implementing digital signal processing functions such as DDC, filters, and FFT within FPGAs.
• Familiarity with Xilinx RFSoC Ultrascale+ and its associated ADC/DAC peripherals.
• Understanding of high-speed digital and analog hardware design and debugging.
