This venture-backed startup is building a new kind of marketplace for collectables. It combines the thrill of opening a pack with full transparency: published odds, live market pricing and results nobody can change after purchase.

It launched to an invite-only community a month ago and has already processed thousands of sales and six-figure transaction volume, with some of the world’s biggest trading card sellers already on board. The longer-term goal is trusted infrastructure for pricing, storing and trading collectables (art, watches, cars) as a genuine asset class.

The role

You’ll be the first and sole Frontend engineering hire, owning everything users see and touch. The goal is a marketplace that never lags, a reveal that feels instant and numbers users understand at a glance.

You’ll work directly with the technical co-founder (quant background, product, backend and pricing), alongside a motion designer and a design agency. You’ll set the frontend architecture, ship every week and kick-start the mobile app.

What you’ll work on

• The reveal: making a server-decided outcome feel instant, with motion, suspense and sound
• The catalogue: thousands of high-resolution card images that load fast on a mid-range phone
• Live pricing: market prices and odds updating in real time, plus portfolio charts
• Money flows: checkout, buyback and payouts that never show a wrong number
• Seller tools: a pack builder that power users live in
• Mobile: a design system that carries through to a cross-platform app
• AI: tooling and agents built into how the team builds

About you

• You live frontend: deep TypeScript and React, and you go deep rather than wide
• You have an eye for design and notice a dropped frame or an off colour before anyone else
• You’ve built consumer products, marketplaces or live commerce where the details matter
• You measure performance: profiling, testing and load testing, with numbers before and after
• You have a portfolio or work you can show
• You ship fast without dropping quality, and you think about what could go wrong for the customer
• You use AI heavily and thoughtfully. It does your typing, not your thinking.

Trajectory matters more than years of experience. If you learn fast, set ambitious targets and hold strong opinions loosely, we want to hear from you.

What’s on offer

• Base salary of <$200k plus super
• Milestone bonuses of up to $100k, in cash or equity, paid each time the company hits a milestone (which is already frequent) rather than annually
• Up to 5% equity (four-year vesting, one-year cliff), for a total initial package of up to $500k a year
• A founding role with no layers above you, and a path to the board by invitation
• In person in Sydney or Melbourne, with domestic and international relocation and visa sponsorship available
• The option to move when the company expands to the US (New York)
• Fully catered food, 2–3 team offsites a year
