The Facilities Technician Developmental Program at Google offers an opportunity for individuals who are recently trade-qualified or nearing the completion of their apprenticeship. As a Facilities Technician within the Data Center team, you will play a crucial role in operating, monitoring, and supporting the physical facilities that house Google’s global computing infrastructure.
Your responsibilities will include assisting in the heating and cooling of air and water, managing power supply, generators, UPS systems, and electrical distribution and control systems. You will regularly help inspect, maintain, and repair various data center systems, including piping and non-critical electrical or mechanical components. Under the supervision of executive technicians, you will read blueprints and schematics, conduct system tours, and assess their operational status.
As a participant in the Facilities Technician Developmental Program, you will work closely with your manager and senior team members to learn the technical skills necessary for your role. You will also engage in community contributions to enhance the workplace culture and operations at Google.

Responsibilities
- Shadow technicians as they inspect, maintain, and repair various data center systems such as piping and mechanical system components.
- Perform basic maintenance and repair tasks, and identify problems to address routine issues by following prescribed procedures under supervision.
- Use a defined approach to complete subtasks, under direct guidance from managers or executive team members.
- Exchange basic information and knowledge within your team or functional area when relevant to the task.
- Complete theoretical modules of the program.
- Impact the work group through personal accuracy, timeliness, and quality of work.
- Ask questions about data center operations, maintenance, processes, and procedures.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, Technical Secondary School qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with Google Workspace or similar applications.
- Knowledge of or interest in working with HVAC, electrical, or mechanical systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong work ethic and a sense of responsibility for completing tasks on time.
