Engineering Manager – Platform Overview

Anaplan is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Environment Tooling team within Platform Engineering, playing a crucial role in our DevOps and platform transformation efforts. This team is essential for maintaining our GitOps deployment pipeline and enhancing developer experience tooling.

As the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for coaching and developing a talented team of platform engineers while ensuring operational stability and driving strategic initiatives. You will oversee a team of six engineers and report to the Senior Director of Platform Engineering.

Your Impact

Leadership & People Management

• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of platform engineers, focusing on individual career development and skill enhancement.
• Foster a safe and inclusive team culture that prioritizes work-life balance and operational readiness.

Agile & Process Execution

• Adopt a pragmatic Agile mindset to refine team processes, manage sprint commitments, and deliver value iteratively.
• Collaborate with peer platform managers and software development leaders to align on roadmaps and shared goals.

Project & Initiative Delivery

• Oversee the end-to-end delivery of Environment Tooling initiatives, including scoping, planning, and tracking milestones.
• Manage risks and report progress to stakeholders effectively.

Platform Ownership & Operations

Argo CD & GitOps Core

• Lead the engineering ownership and operational support for Argo CD across the platform.
• Govern platform-wide feature flagging tools and set the technology strategy.

Operational Readiness & On-Call

• Direct the team’s on-call rotation to ensure deployment pipeline stability during critical downtime.

Strategic Vision

• Establish the Environment Tooling team as the authority for all non-production environments, ensuring governance and standards are met.
• Design and build orchestration systems and tooling for managing non-production environments.

Your Skills

• Demonstrated experience in leading platform, infrastructure, or DevOps engineering teams, with a focus on mentoring and technical decision-making.
• Deep understanding of cloud-native architectures, GitOps workflows, and Infrastructure as Code.
• A commitment to delivering value early and often, with a focus on continuous improvement.
• A passion for enhancing developer experience through self-service tooling.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
