DLP Security Engineer Overview

We are seeking a skilled Data Protection Analyst specializing in DLP to join our team in London. This hybrid role requires hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview DLP and Security Operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and managing DLP incidents, investigating policy violations, handling service requests, and supporting enterprise data protection controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents and alerts related to Microsoft Purview DLP.
• Manage security tickets, service requests, and escalations within agreed SLAs.
• Perform incident triage, investigation, root cause analysis, and maintain documentation.
• Support data classification, sensitivity labeling, and information protection initiatives.
• Refine DLP policies to minimize false positives.
• Collaborate with end users, security teams, and business stakeholders for incident resolution.
• Assist in certificate management and perform basic PKI-related activities.
• Create operational reports, dashboards, knowledge articles, and SOP documentation.

Required Skills

• Proven experience in Security Operations, Data Protection, or SOC environments.
• Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Purview DLP.
• Experience managing security incidents and using ticketing platforms like ServiceNow, JIRA, or Remedy.
• Understanding of Data Classification, Information Protection, and Compliance concepts.
• Basic knowledge of PKI, digital certificates, encryption, and key management.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to Microsoft Information Protection (MIP), Insider Risk Management, or Defender for Cloud Apps.
• Knowledge of GDPR, UK Data Protection Act, ISO 27001, or similar compliance frameworks.
• Microsoft SC-400 or related security certifications are desirable.

The ideal candidate will be a security operations professional with a strong background in Microsoft Purview DLP, capable of efficiently managing incidents, tickets, policy violations, and daily data protection operations, while also possessing foundational knowledge of PKI and information protection technologies.
