The role of Data Center Plant Engineer (Electrical Senior Authorised Person) involves leading the troubleshooting and maintenance of critical systems within Google’s data centers. This position requires a strong background in electrical engineering and the ability to operate sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide effective leadership for successful critical system troubleshooting, unit commissioning, repairs/replacements with little to no supervision in quality, quantity and timeliness as assigned.
- Operate critical plant equipment as authorized by facilities manager.
- Coordinate input for global facilities programs such as in electrical, Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Building Management System (BMS), energy savings, training and thermography.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field.
- A minimum of 7 years of electrical experience in an industrial or commercial environment.
- Ability to participate in material handling tasks such as lifting, carrying or moving up to 50 lbs (23 kg) of equipment, and the required use of safety equipment.
- Willingness to work non-standard hours and differing work rotations/shifts.
- City & Guilds Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification (or equivalent NVQ Level 3), holding a valid ECS Gold Card and current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) certification.
- Preferred: Certification as an HVAP/LVAP and 7 years of experience in maintenance of electrical distribution systems or a related field.
