An exciting opportunity has arisen for a CPU ASIC Design Engineer to join a leading semiconductor company at its prominent design center located in Cambridge, England. This position is part of a distinguished engineering team that is at the forefront of developing technology for next-generation CPUs, GPUs, ultra-low-power IoT devices, and advanced wearable platforms utilized by millions worldwide.

As a CPU ASIC Design Engineer, you will be integral to the innovation of CPU technology, collaborating with top architects and design teams to advance high-performance, low-power processor technology from the initial concept stage through to silicon delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with CPU modeling teams to assess and refine high-performance design strategies.
  • Lead the development and specification of microarchitecture from initial architectural concepts to detailed implementation.
  • Take ownership of RTL design and refinement, ensuring a balance between power, performance, timing, and area constraints.
  • Support performance verification activities to confirm that architectural objectives are met in silicon.
  • Work closely with physical design and cross-functional engineering teams to produce robust, production-ready designs.
  • Contribute to decisions that significantly impact the performance and efficiency of next-generation processors.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of microprocessor architecture and principles of CPU design.
  • Proficiency in Verilog and/or VHDL.
  • Solid foundation in logic design, timing closure, and power optimization.
  • Knowledge of low-power microarchitecture techniques.
  • Understanding of trade-offs and architectural strategies in high-performance CPU design.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Perl or Python.
