Consultant Psychiatrist, Vega Ward – Silverwood attracts 25K RRP Overview

Surrey & Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist to join the adult inpatient service at the newly constructed Vega Ward at Silverwood. This role involves delivering high-quality psychiatric care to inpatients while adhering to the Acute Service Operational Policy. The successful candidate will also provide clinical leadership and participate in various service improvement activities.

The position includes an additional acuity supplement for those interested in leadership, teaching, or research roles. Main Responsibilities

• Deliver consultant psychiatric input to inpatients as per the Acute Service Operational Policy.
• Engage in clinical leadership and service improvement initiatives.
• Participate in the Surrey-wide WAA consultant on-call rota (approximately 1:30).
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective patient care transitions.
• Support CPD, teaching, supervision, audit, quality improvement, and research interests.

Qualifications and Experience

• Essential: MBBS or equivalent medical qualification, full medical registration, and approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act (or ability to obtain within 6-12 months).
• Desirable: Relevant higher degree (MD, PhD, MSc), MRCPsych or equivalent, and management qualifications.
• Essential: Knowledge of legislation and Department of Health guidance, excellent clinical skills, and experience with diverse patient groups.
