Surrey & Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist to join the adult inpatient service at the newly established Orion Ward in Silverwood Hospital. This role offers an exciting opportunity for professionals passionate about mental health to contribute to a transformative inpatient care environment.
The Consultant Psychiatrist will be responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric input to inpatients, adhering to the Acute Service Operational Policy. The successful candidate will also play a pivotal role in clinical leadership and service enhancement initiatives. An additional acuity supplement equivalent to 1PA is available for those interested in leadership, teaching, or research roles.
Main Duties
- Deliver psychiatric services in line with Trust policies and the Care Programme Approach.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective patient care transitions.
- Engage in the Surrey-wide WAA consultant on-call rota, approximately one in thirty.
- Participate in CPD, teaching, supervision, audit, quality improvement, and research activities.
Requirements
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Full medical registration with a license to practice.
- Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act or ability to achieve this within 6 to 12 months.
- Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility within six months.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and Department of Health guidance.
- Excellent clinical skills and ability to manage clinical complexity.
- Experience with diverse patient groups across various care settings.
