The Neurology department at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a full-time Consultant Neurologist with a specialization in Neuromuscular diseases. This position is based at the Royal Derby Hospital, which offers a comprehensive Neurology service, including outpatient and inpatient care.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality clinical management for neurology patients.
- Share responsibility with colleagues for the daily management of the Neurology Service.
- Teach and train Neurology Specialist Nurses, junior staff, and medical students.
- Actively participate in Clinical Governance and audit activities.
- Engage in Continuing Medical Education (CME) and complete annual job planning and appraisal.
- Implement Infection Control Policies as per Trust guidelines.
- Supervise and manage Neurology Specialty trainees and junior medical staff, fulfilling teaching and examination duties.
- Contribute to clinical audit and research initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Essential: MBBS / MBChB or equivalent medical degree.
- Essential: Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practise.
- Essential: Evidence of entry on GMC Specialist Register or CCT status.
- Essential: MRCP or equivalent higher qualification.
- Essential: Extensive experience in Neurology with a focus on Neuromuscular diseases.
- Essential: Minimum 6 months of experience in a UK healthcare setting at a middle grade or senior level.
- Essential: Evidence of independent clinical practice.
- Essential: Experience in supervising and teaching medical students and resident doctors.
- Essential: Commitment to clinical audit and quality improvement projects.

This role is a permanent full-time position with a salary range of £113,565 to £150,569 per annum. Applications from individuals requiring Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK are encouraged and will be considered alongside all other applications.
