This role involves working as an Assistant Psychologist within the Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, focusing on the Offender Personality Disorder Pathway in collaboration with the National Probation Service. The successful candidate will support probation staff in identifying suitable cases and will work under the supervision of qualified Clinical or Forensic Psychologists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the National Probation Service to enhance the community-based aspects of the Offender Personality Disorder Pathway in Lincolnshire.
  • Assist and advise probation staff in identifying cases that qualify for the Offender Personality Disorder pathway, focusing on individuals with significant problematic personality traits.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical record-keeping and report writing in compliance with the British Psychological Society’s professional codes and Trust policies.
  • Uphold professional boundaries while performing administrative duties as needed.
  • Engage in various professional activities, ensuring that diversity considerations (such as race, culture, identity, gender, religion, age, and sexuality) are integrated into all aspects of service delivery.
  • Empower service users to express their views regarding their care and incorporate their feedback into service development and improvement.

Requirements

  • A first-class or upper second-class honours degree in Psychology or a 2.2 plus a higher degree in Psychology, with eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
  • Experience working with offenders or individuals with mental health issues, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or personality disorders.
  • Familiarity with forensic or secure settings and mental health environments.
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and multi-agency collaboration.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and deliver psychometric testing, including scoring and interpretation.
  • Experience in providing individual or group psychological interventions.
  • Knowledge of the legal system and the Mental Health Act.
  • Understanding of psychological theories relevant to personality disorders and offending behavior.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex and sensitive information effectively.
  • Ability to work independently while being reliable and consistent under regular supervision.
