The Analytics Graduate Programme is designed for recent graduates who are eager to kickstart their careers in the fast-paced environment of energy commodities trading. This program combines structured professional development with hands-on experience, allowing successful candidates to engage directly with commercial teams and take on significant responsibilities from the outset.

Your Role

As a graduate analyst, you will be part of a dynamic trading analyst team that collaborates closely with traders to provide data-driven insights into energy commodities markets. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting pre-trade and post-trade analysis using appropriate techniques and principles.
  • Modeling the fundamental supply and demand balance and trade flow of energy commodities.
  • Tracking global oil movements through vessel tracking and assessing their impact on pricing for physical cargoes.
  • Working on the trading floor to develop models that improve the forecasting of fundamental and price data, both collaboratively with traders and independently.
  • Analyzing collected information to identify market anomalies that could lead to trading opportunities.
  • Effectively communicating results to traders and senior management.
  • Using initiative and entrepreneurial thinking to generate additional value.

Who We Look For

We seek recent graduates with a strong academic record who are interested in a challenging career in the commodities sector. Ideal candidates will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree at a 2.1 standard or above in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A demonstrated interest in the commodities sector, particularly in the Energy or Oil industries, through relevant experience.
  • Strong numerical skills and the ability to solve complex problems using a variety of analytical techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience in quantitative data analysis.
  • Desirable coding skills in languages such as VBA, Python, or SQL.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and adaptability to work independently while focusing on practical business benefits.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills, with the ability to convey solutions clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Strong motivation and organizational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Capability to build relationships and influence team dynamics.
