Trainee OHL CAD Technician – Derby Overview

Balfour Beatty Power T&D is seeking a Trainee CAD Technician to join their Overhead Lines team in Derby. This position is focused on producing a variety of drawings and material schedules that meet established standards and deadlines. The role also emphasizes the development of effective working methods to enhance output quality and quantity.

Key Responsibilities

• Create a variety of drawings and material schedules that meet the required standards and deadlines.
• Develop and refine working methods to enhance both the quality and quantity of output.
• Generate necessary documentation for specific projects while collaborating with designers and operational staff to ensure practical design interpretations.
• Adhere to project-specific standards and practices.
• Assist in training junior staff and guiding contract or agency personnel and technicians in their tasks.
• Prioritize safety and work towards eliminating hazards at their source.
• Produce accurate documentation packages with minimal rework.
• Maintain precise and complete records.

Qualifications

• Experience with CAD software, specifically MicroStation or AutoCAD.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Ability to effectively manage time and plan ahead while handling multiple projects.
• Possession of an ONC or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
