This position is for a Theatre Practitioner based in Ilford, offering a competitive salary and a full-time contract of 37.5 hours per week. The role involves working over four days within a seven-day period, including some weekends, with standard shifts from 07:30 to 17:30, requiring some flexibility based on patient needs.

The Theatre Practitioner will play a crucial role in providing patient-centered care throughout the ophthalmic pathway, which includes pre-admission, diagnostics, surgical support, and post-operative recovery. Responsibilities include scrubbing and assisting in a high-volume theatre environment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure smooth and efficient theatre operations, and establishing a compassionate environment for patients and their families.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering patient-centered care across the entire ophthalmic pathway.
  • Scrubbing and assisting in a high-volume theatre environment.
  • Providing support to patients, families, and friends.
  • Assisting surgeons in the delivery of ophthalmic care.
  • Preparing clinical areas for daily activities.
  • Managing patient admissions and discharges on theatre days.
  • Participating in departmental audits.
  • Demonstrating effective communication and interpersonal skills.

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Registered practitioner with the NMC or HCPC.
  • Previous experience in a clinical or theatre setting, especially with high-volume procedures.
  • Desire to develop clinical skills through ongoing training and professional development.
  • Experience with patient discharge processes is advantageous.
  • Commitment to delivering excellent patient care.
  • Proactive and flexible approach to teamwork.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and control protocols.
