Sustainability Engineer Overview

A Sustainability Engineer is sought to join a well-established company specializing in medical and optical instrumentation, located in Berkshire, England. This role is integral to the ongoing development and lifecycle management of complex electronic products.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the entire lifecycle of existing electronic products, from production to end-of-life.
• Identify and resolve hardware issues that may arise from manufacturing processes, suppliers, or field operations.
• Manage component obsolescence, including sourcing alternatives and implementing design changes.
• Execute engineering modifications, which involve updating schematics, revising PCBs, and altering Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Ensure compliance and maintain documentation updates for products within regulated environments.
• Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturers, and internal teams to guarantee product continuity.

Requirements

• Possess a background in electronic hardware engineering or sustainability engineering.
• Demonstrate experience with schematic capture, PCB design, or making design modifications.
• Have knowledge of component lifecycle management and strategies for mitigating obsolescence.
• Exhibit practical skills in fault-finding and root cause analysis.
• Ability to operate effectively within regulated or quality-focused environments.
• Hold a degree in Electronic Engineering or a related field.
