We are seeking a skilled Hardware Security Engineer to enhance the security of SoC hardware platforms as part of the Arm Product Security team. This position involves identifying vulnerabilities in silicon-level security features, understanding their implications, and collaborating with architecture and silicon teams to bolster the overall security of our platforms. You will engage in detailed technical analysis, develop proof-of-concept demonstrations, and create tools that aid in the assessment and enhancement of hardware security features across complex SoC platforms. Our team values collaboration, continuous learning, and effective problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Conduct hands-on security evaluations of SoC hardware components and security features, including trust anchors, debug interfaces, and isolation mechanisms.
- Identify and analyze hardware security vulnerabilities through methods such as architecture reviews, hardware interface assessments, and experimental testing.
- Create proof-of-concept demonstrations that showcase the real-world implications of hardware vulnerabilities.
- Enhance and apply knowledge of hardware security techniques pertinent to silicon security, privilege boundaries, and trust architectures.
- Develop and maintain tools and methodologies that facilitate hardware security assessments and experimentation.
- Collaborate closely with architecture, silicon design, firmware, and platform teams to effectively communicate findings and support mitigation strategies.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience in offensive security, vulnerability research, or low-level systems security.
- In-depth knowledge of microarchitecture and SoC design principles.
- Experience in reviewing architectural specifications and RTL for security-related behaviors.
- Strong understanding of contemporary SoC architectures, including security boundaries, privilege levels, and hardware isolation mechanisms.
- Experience analyzing hardware interfaces and platform components, such as debug infrastructure, secure boot root of trust, or system interconnects.
- Familiarity with hardware debug interfaces (e.g., JTAG, SWD) and relevant hardware attack methodologies.
- Proficiency in low-level programming languages like C, with a working knowledge of assembly language (preferably Arm).
- Understanding of hardware-software interactions and how security properties are enforced across different system layers.
- Ability to produce clear, well-structured technical reports and document security findings.
- Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a diverse and inclusive team.
Benefits
- Competitive salary range of £97,300 – £131,700 per year.
- Hybrid working model designed to support both high performance and personal wellbeing.
- Commitment to equal opportunities and a diverse workplace environment.
- Support for accommodations during the recruitment process.
