Our international client is seeking a Staff Etch Process Development Engineer based in Northamptonshire, England. This role involves the development, optimization, and support of dry and wet etch processes for III-V semiconductor and photonic devices. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving process improvements, introducing new products, enhancing yield, and improving manufacturing efficiency within a semiconductor fabrication environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, qualify, and enhance semiconductor manufacturing processes.
  • Optimize both dry and wet etch processes to improve performance, consistency, and yield.
  • Analyze process and equipment data utilizing Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), Six Sigma, and Lean methodologies.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI), facilitate technology transfer, and assist in scaling processes for production.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to processes and equipment to enhance uptime and minimize defects.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at improving yield, reducing scrap, shortening cycle times, and cutting costs.
  • Collaborate effectively with Product, Equipment, Manufacturing, and Research & Development teams.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in semiconductor or advanced manufacturing sectors such as photonics, III-V materials, MEMS, optoelectronics, or silicon photonics.
  • Strong understanding of SPC, DOE, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing principles, and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Experience with statistical data analysis, process optimization, and problem-solving in a manufacturing context.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
  • A degree or equivalent experience in Semiconductor Technology, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
