Software Development Internship 2027 UK Overview

Softwire is currently not offering internships for the year 2027. Instead, they will be hiring approximately 50 entry-level consultant software engineers. Those interested in a Graduate Developer role in 2027 or later are encouraged to apply directly for the position.

Application Process

Applications must be submitted through the links on the Softwire careers page, as email applications are not accepted. The application process consists of six stages: submission of the application form, online tests, a non-technical interview, a technical interview, a soft skills interview, and a final group interview conducted in the office.

Training and Development

New employees will undergo a comprehensive training program during their first few weeks, guided by a mentor. This training includes hands-on experience with real-world projects and ongoing support for three months. An optional Level 4 apprenticeship is available for those wishing to pursue formal learning.

Work Environment

Initially, new hires are expected to work in the office 4-5 days a week for the first 1-2 years. After this period, there is greater flexibility for remote work, although certain projects may require in-office attendance. Employees are contracted for a minimum of 37.5 hours per week, typically working core hours from 10am to 4pm.

Visa Sponsorship

Softwire offers visa sponsorship for non-UK nationals applying for permanent roles, covering the costs associated with obtaining a Skilled Worker visa or Indefinite Leave to Remain.

Qualifications

There are no specific academic grade requirements for entry-level roles, and candidates are encouraged to apply regardless of their educational background. However, some coding experience is necessary to assess interest and capability in programming.

Skills Development

Softwire values coding fluency and encourages candidates to practice coding through various platforms. Knowledge of mainstream programming languages is advantageous, and resources such as Codecademy and coding bootcamps are recommended for beginners.
