As a Research Scientist in Multisensor Robotics at Google DeepMind, you will engage in pioneering research aimed at advancing the capabilities of intelligent systems for meaningful interactions in the physical world. This position focuses on bridging theoretical algorithmic research with real-world applications at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Design and train models to enhance robotic capabilities and create prototypes.
  • Utilize expertise in sim-to-real transfer, imitation learning, Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models, and multi-sensory learning including tactile and audio inputs.
  • Optimize models through techniques such as distillation, pruning, and quantization.
  • Generate innovative ideas, address hardware requirements for manipulation, and effectively communicate findings to various audiences.

Requirements

  • Possess a PhD in a relevant quantitative discipline such as Robotics, Computer Science, or Machine Learning, or have equivalent practical experience.
  • Have at least 5 years of professional research experience in an industrial research and development environment.
  • Demonstrate 3 years of experience in designing, training, and scaling reinforcement learning (RL), imitation learning (IL), or multimodal generative architectures.
  • Show 2 years of experience in optimizing foundation models for production, focusing on on-device latency and memory constraints.
  • Preferred: 3 years of experience in building data pipelines and deploying production-ready systems, along with managing multi-sensory datasets.
