G-Research is seeking a skilled Lead Network Reliability Engineer to join its engineering team in London. This role involves taking a hands-on technical leadership position to enhance the reliability, performance, resilience, and security of our network infrastructure across both datacentre and office environments. The ideal candidate will leverage Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, automation, and observability to optimize operations, reduce manual tasks, and improve incident response.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance SRE practices for the network, promoting an automation-first mindset through the use of tools, observability, and cutting-edge technologies.
• Take ownership of the operational performance, stability, availability, and security of network and network security platforms from start to finish.
• Improve observability across telemetry, alerting, and performance monitoring to facilitate proactive operations.
• Design and advance an event-driven network architecture based on Infrastructure as Code principles.
• Lead the response to critical network and security incidents, ensuring quick diagnosis, effective containment, and permanent solutions to prevent recurrence, while also investigating root causes to eliminate systemic issues.
• Create and refine operational tools, runbooks, and incident response frameworks to enhance service delivery.

Who Are We Looking For?

The successful candidate will possess:

• A strong background as a networks technical lead in enterprise or large-scale environments.
• Experience applying SRE, observability, and automation principles to networking, using technologies such as Python, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Ansible, and Jenkins.
• Familiarity with Cisco and Arista switching and routing, alongside network security infrastructure including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and network segmentation.
• A strong interest in event-driven automation and AI-assisted operations, particularly in leveraging emerging technologies for diagnostics, remediation, and operational efficiency.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
