Join BAE Systems as a Graduate Airframe Engineer, where you will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to advancing technology in the defense, aerospace, and security sectors. This role is based in Prestwick, Ayrshire, and offers a competitive salary of £34,000 per annum, along with a £2,000 welcome bonus. You will be expected to work on-site 4-5 days a week, with hybrid and flexible working arrangements available.

The Graduate Airframe Engineering program encompasses four key disciplines: Aerodynamics, Design, Materials, and Structures. Each discipline plays a vital role in the engineering lifecycle, ensuring that products meet customer requirements effectively.

Core Responsibilities

• Aerodynamics: Utilize wind tunnel testing and computational techniques to analyze and optimize aircraft designs, ensuring safe operation across the flight envelope.
• Design Engineering: Liaise with stakeholders, manage product bill of materials, and create CAD definitions for optimized and manufacturable products.
• Materials Engineering: Analyze, qualify, and test materials, investigate material properties and failures, and develop new materials for airborne platforms.
• Structures Engineering: Conduct structural analysis calculations to validate the strength, stiffness, and structural life of BAE Systems platforms.

Qualifications

To qualify for this role, you must have obtained or be predicted to obtain at least a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree or a pass at Master’s level in relevant subjects such as Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or Mathematics.

All applicants must meet the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, and many roles require higher levels of National Security Vetting, necessitating 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK for meaningful security checks.

Start date for this position is July 5, 2027, and it is a permanent contract.
