As an Export Legal Counsel at Google, you will engage with complex legal issues arising from innovative technological advancements, requiring proactive and creative legal guidance. You will be part of a dynamic team of in-house lawyers, collaborating with various departments to address significant legal challenges and influence business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate EMEA export and sanctions laws and regulations to determine their impact on the company’s products and services.
- Collaborate with logistics and operations teams to provide legal guidance that supports the export of physical goods from various EMEA jurisdictions.
- Offer continuous export and sanctions support to various projects and teams, addressing ad hoc queries related to export control and sanctions.
- Stay informed about developments in export control and sanctions across EMEA, analyzing their implications for the company and working cross-functionally to implement necessary changes to the export compliance program.
- Prepare license applications and other governmental filings as required, including completing exporter registrations and drafting and reviewing export-related policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Possession of a JD, LL.B., or equivalent degree, or relevant practical experience.
- Must be admitted to the bar and in good standing, or otherwise authorized to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
- A minimum of 3 years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm.
- Experience managing outside counsel and working in-house is preferred.
- Familiarity with privacy, consumer protection, antitrust, contract, content moderation/safety, or intellectual property law issues in a technology context.
- Practical knowledge and experience with EMEA export controls and sanctions.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive salary range of â¬158,000 – â¬161,000 (EUR) plus a target bonus of 20% and equity options.
