As a Data Center Technician II within the AI Infrastructure team at Google, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cutting-edge physical infrastructure that supports Google’s advanced search technology. Your responsibilities will include installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware components such as servers and server software, including Google’s Linux cluster. You will also be involved in configuring complex components like networks, routers, and switches.

Your daily tasks will require manual movement and installation of racks, which can be physically demanding, but you will be working with state-of-the-art technology that is at the forefront of the industry. The AI and Infrastructure team is dedicated to delivering unparalleled capabilities and insights to Google customers, including Google Cloud clients and billions of users worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to projects focused on the deployment, maintenance, and support of Google Cloud region infrastructure, including cloud data centers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve critical technical issues related to equipment.
• Test and troubleshoot new server hardware components and designs.
• Configure and address operating system-related issues on servers.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with computer hardware, server hardware, and troubleshooting or diagnosing issues.
• Familiarity with operating systems and networking protocols.
• Experience in project management and collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Ability to perform material handling tasks, including lifting and moving equipment up to 50 lbs, while adhering to safety guidelines.
