Your primary focus will be on manufacturing precision components for our robotic systems, guiding parts from engineering drawings or CAD models through programming, setup, first-off inspection, and into repeat production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate Fanuc-controlled CNC turning centers.
  • Manufacture precision components based on engineering drawings, CAD models, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Program and validate twin-spindle operations, live tooling, and multi-axis machining processes.
  • Create and optimize CNC programs utilizing Fanuc controls, Fusion 360 CAM, and verification software.
  • Select suitable cutting tools, inserts, holders, workholding, and determine appropriate speeds and feeds.
  • Produce prototypes, small batches, and components for repeat production.
  • Conduct complete machine setups, including tooling, workholding, datum setting, and tool-offset management.
  • Perform first-off and in-process inspections using relevant measuring equipment.
  • Ensure that components meet specified dimensional, geometric tolerance, and surface finish standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to provide practical input for design-for-manufacture.
  • Enhance setup times, cycle times, tool life, process reliability, and material utilization.
  • Troubleshoot programming, tooling, dimensional, and machining issues.
  • Maintain detailed setup sheets, tooling records, and inspection documentation.
  • Support probing, tool-life monitoring, standardized setups, machine tending, and lights-out machining.
  • Assist with other CNC machining tasks as needed.

  • Experience with twin-spindle CNC turning operations.
  • Familiarity with programming and operating live or driven tooling.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong understanding of cutting tools, inserts, workholding, speeds, and feeds.
  • Experience in producing and inspecting precision-machined components.
  • Good knowledge of G-code and CNC program structure.
  • Capability to perform first-off and in-process inspections using micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, and thread gauges.
  • Strong practical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Highly Desirable Experience

  • Y-axis CNC turning and milling operations.
  • Twin-turret CNC lathes and synchronized turret programming.
  • Experience with DN Solutions or Doosan PUMA turning centers.
  • Familiarity with Fusion 360 CAM or other offline programming software.
  • Knowledge of sub-spindle part transfer, simultaneous machining, and cycle-time optimization.
  • Experience in automated machining, probing, bar feeding, robotic machine tending, or unattended production.
  • Background in high-mix, low-to-medium-volume precision manufacturing.
  • Experience within robotics, automation, motorsport, aerospace, or another advanced engineering environment.

Benefits

  • Private healthcare through Bupa with a 24/7 medical helpline.
  • Life insurance coverage.
  • Income protection plan.
  • Pension scheme with a 4% employee contribution and an option to opt into salary exchange, plus a 5% employer contribution.
  • Employee Assistance Programme offering mental wellbeing, financial, and legal support.
  • 25 days of annual leave.
