CVOR RN Salary, Shift Differentials and Relocation Assistance

• Evening Differential: Additional $1.50 per hour for qualifying shifts between 3:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., with a minimum of four hours worked during this period.

• Weekend Differential: Additional $4.00 per hour for eligible Saturday and Sunday shifts.

Cardiovascular Operating Room RN Responsibilities

As a Cardiovascular Operating Room Registered Nurse, you will provide specialized perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing cardiovascular surgical procedures while working closely with surgeons, anaesthesia providers, perfusionists and other members of the surgical team.

Responsibilities may include:

• Perform comprehensive preoperative assessments for patients undergoing cardiac and vascular surgical procedures.
• Prepare cardiovascular operating rooms, specialized surgical instruments and equipment.
• Perform circulating nurse duties during cardiovascular surgeries.
• Coordinate nursing care during complex cardiac and vascular procedures.
• Support procedures such as coronary artery bypass grafting, cardiac valve surgery and vascular interventions, depending on facility services.
• Collaborate with cardiovascular surgeons, anaesthesia providers, perfusionists and perioperative personnel.
• Monitor patient conditions and identify changes requiring immediate intervention.
• Follow sterile technique, surgical safety protocols and infection prevention procedures.
• Verify patient identification, surgical consent, procedure details and required safety checklists.
• Ensure appropriate instruments, supplies and equipment are available for cardiovascular procedures.
• Respond promptly and effectively to intraoperative emergencies.
• Administer prescribed medications and perform nursing interventions within the RN scope of practice.
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation and communicate important clinical information.
• Support postoperative handovers and continuity of patient care.
• Participate in scheduled on-call coverage for urgent and emergency cardiovascular surgeries.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and patient safety standards.
• Maintain professional competency through continuing education and clinical development.

CVOR Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing programme.
• Eligible for an active South Carolina Registered Nurse licence or qualifying multistate licence.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, as required by the employer.
• Previous Cardiovascular Operating Room, cardiac surgery or relevant perioperative nursing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of cardiovascular surgical procedures, specialized equipment and perioperative nursing practices.
• Ability to recognize and respond to urgent changes in patient condition.
• Strong clinical judgement, communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, specialized surgical environment.
• Willingness to participate in scheduled on-call responsibilities.

Experience with coronary artery bypass procedures, valve surgery, vascular surgery or other complex surgical procedures is an asset.
