Applied AI Engineer Overview

An exciting opportunity has emerged for a Senior Applied AI Engineer to join a dedicated team within a leading global financial organization’s AI function. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying cutting-edge AI-powered applications across the entire technology stack.

Key Responsibilities

• Transform business challenges and problem statements into effective proofs of concept and production-ready AI solutions.
• Design, develop, and deploy AI-native applications utilizing Large Language Models (LLMs), agentic systems, and multimodal AI technologies.
• Create and manage intelligent agent workflows using the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, Agent Development Kit (ADK), and Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol.
• Implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures, vector search capabilities, and long-term agent memory solutions.
• Deploy, monitor, and enhance AI agents using Google’s managed agent runtime and foundational models, including Gemini and Claude.
• Develop user-friendly and scalable interfaces with modern front-end technologies such as React, Next.js, and Svelte.
• Construct robust backend services, APIs, and orchestration frameworks to support AI-driven applications.
• Design and oversee data architectures across SQL, NoSQL, and vector database environments.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and deliver AI use cases that provide measurable business value.
• Evaluate AI platforms, models, and third-party technologies based on performance, scalability, cost, latency, security, and maintainability.
• Conduct model benchmarking, technical due diligence, and framework evaluations to guide technology decisions.

Requirements

• Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying Applied AI and Generative AI solutions in production settings.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents, and modern orchestration frameworks.
• Experience with Google Cloud AI services, especially those based on Gemini technologies.
• Advanced proficiency in Python development, with familiarity in TypeScript being a significant plus.
• Full-stack software engineering experience, particularly in backend development, distributed systems, and API design.
• Hands-on experience in building applications with React, Next.js, Svelte, or similar modern front-end frameworks.
• Solid understanding of SQL, NoSQL, and vector database technologies, including platforms like PostgreSQL and Firestore.
• Demonstrated experience in implementing RAG architectures, prompt engineering techniques, and AI model evaluation methods.
• Practical knowledge of containerization and cloud-native technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, stakeholder engagement skills, and architectural design capabilities, with the ability to convert business requirements into scalable AI solutions.
