Delphi Error – E2521 Operator ‘%s’ must take one ‘%s’ type in parameter or result type

Delphi Compiler Error

E2521 Operator ‘%s’ must take one ‘%s’ type in parameter or result type

Reason for the Error & Solution

This occurs when using a type that is redundant for the operator overload when applied to a type (it applies to Explicit and Implicit overloads.)

program E2521;

{$APPTYPE CONSOLE}

uses
  SysUtils;

type
TMyRecord = record
    class operator Implicit(a: TMyRecord): TMyRecord; //E2521
  end;

class operator TMyRecord.Implicit(a: TMyRecord): TMyRecord;
begin
   // code
end;

begin
   Writeln('E2521 Operator ''%s'' must take one ''%s'' type in parameter or result type');
end.
