Part 2: Writing and Editing an Essay
Introduction to ProWritingAid Interface:
Once registered, guide students through the ProWritingAid dashboard. Highlight key features such as the summary report, style, grammar, and thesaurus suggestions.
Writing the Essay:
Students should write a 500-word essay on the topic “Online Learning vs. Traditional Classroom Settings“. This can be done in a word processor of their choice or directly in the ProWritingAid web editor to take advantage of real-time suggestions.
Importing the Essay into ProWritingAid:
If the essay was written outside ProWritingAid, instruct students on how to import their document. This can be done by clicking on “Start Web Editor” and then “Upload Document” to select their file.
Using ProWritingAid to Edit the Essay:
Encourage students to explore the different reports ProWritingAid offers, such as style, grammar, overused words, and readability.
Students should apply the suggestions they find helpful to improve their essay. Highlight the importance of not accepting all suggestions blindly, but rather considering each one critically.
Review and Finalize the Essay:
After making changes based on ProWritingAid’s suggestions, students should read through their essay to ensure it flows well and retains their original voice.
