- Click the picture you want to add a caption to.
- Click References > Insert Caption.
- To use the default label (Figure), type your caption in the Caption box.

Select the image to which you wish to add a caption.
Click Insert Caption > References.
Fill up the Caption box with your caption if you want to utilise the default label (Figure).

- Insert the object (e.g., image, table) in your document.
- Select the object by clicking on it.
- Go to the “References” tab on the Word ribbon.
- Click on the “Insert Caption” button in the “Captions” group.
- In the “Caption” dialog box, choose the appropriate label (e.g., Figure, Table) and position for your caption.
- Click “OK” to insert the caption.
