I want to insert a citation in my Word document using footnotes or endnotes. How can I do this?

On the References tab, select Insert Footnote or Insert Endnote.

Insert > Insert Footnote is the option.

Word adds a reference mark to the text and a footnote mark at the bottom of the page. Fill up the blanks with the footnote text.
