I want to create a custom style in Word that I can use for consistent formatting throughout my document. How can I do this?
Right-click the text on which you want to base a new style. In the mini toolbar that appears, click Styles and then click create a style. In the create new style from formatting dialog box, give your style a name and click OK.

To Create a new style in the document follow the steps.
1. Right-click the text you wish to build the new style on.
2. In the tiny toolbar that displays, choose Styles and then Create a Style.
3. Name your style and click OK in the Create New Style from Formatting dialogue box.
