Windows 8 Consumer Preview and Start Screen

I just started using the Windows 8 Consumer Preview version and in this blog posts and in the next few blog posts, I will share my experiences and the features of Windows 8 that are purely non-developer related one’s. After that, I will cover the developer related articles on Windows 8.

Windows 8 comes with an interesting Start Screen. Probably all Windows Phone users would have got used to the Metro Start Screen where you could pin apps as Tiles in the Start Screen and launch them when necessary .

1. How to make Tiles smaller/larger, Unpin, and Uninstall in Windows 8 Start Screen?

Right Click on the App, This will open a menu that includes the options to make the tile smaller or bigger depending on the current size of the Tile. This menu also includes options to uninstall (if it is an App) and also to unpin it from the Windows 8 Start Screen.

2. You can rearrange the Tiles in the Windows 8 Start Screen by clicking and holding the tile and dragging and dropping them to a different location.

3. If you are in any App and wish to navigate to the Start Menu, hovering the mouse to the bottom left corner and clicking will take you to the Start Menu.

4. Hovering the mouse over the bottom right corner will show up the start menu options like Search, Share, Devices and Settings.
